This is me spending time on my tablet when I probably should be doing some ironing.
Many would call me a Family History Addict.
My name is Hilary Gadsby and I am an amateur Family Historian or Genealogist.
I have been doing family history research since the turn of the century.
I live in Wales in the UK in a village called Llansanffraid Glan Conwy. This blog has evolved over the years and was originally called Genemeet as I created it as a place where I could share my findings with the family.
The name Edge of Snowdonia was one I adopted because it made it easier for me to explain where I was and what impacted on my ability to research.
I work part-time as a pharmacist and research trips have to be planned so the availability of records online has expanded what I can do from home.
My research has been largely UK focused in parts of England.

I have particularly focused on the counties of Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire for my own family with a twig branching out in to Somerset where it borders Bristol.
As I am also researching my husband's family I have researched in Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Leicestershire and Rutland. I have also found an Irish connection but have not got far with this yet.
I am a member of several family history societies but geography prevents me from participating in any active role.
I regulary participate in online activities such as hangouts with DearMyrtle particularly Mondays with Myrt.
In 2015 I decided to venture further afield and flew out to the US to a conference. I combined this with a visit to cousins.
Here are a few photos from the FGS/Rootstech 2015 conference.
Me with Lisa Alzo and Thomas MacEntee
These 2 are a group of genealogists from commonwealth countries who attended the conference.
and some of those attending to promote WikiTree
These 2 shots are not so good but did not want to miss my good friends and fellow bloggers Cheryl Hudson Passey, Valerie Eichler Lair and Randy Seaver.
I am hoping to attend Rootstech 2018 and maybe make some new genealogy friends.
I have been to the last 3 WDYTYA Live events in Birmingham, England. At the 2015 event I was the last person to join The Guild of One Name Studies (GOONS) and am working on a surname study for the name ROSLING this has its own blog. I am also a member and Assistant Webmaster of The Surname Society.
I have 2 currently less active blogs Mastering Genealogy Software and Gadsby Family Ancestors.
I am looking forward to retiring from my employment so that I can really concentrate on getting the genealogy organised.

A friend messaged me today and if I have the right person, you have very kindly written a lovely review of my blog site for WDYTYA magazine in the June edition. I just googled your name and this site came up and just wanted to say a personal thank you.
best wishes
